For director Michael Bay's "Transformers," Digital Domain handled character animation for robots that transform into a cell phone, steering wheel and vending machine. The artists, led by visual effects supervisor Matthew Butler, created all-CG shots for the Autobots' earthly arrival as well as a flashback sequence set in the Arctic Circle, which required a CG environment to be added to live-action footage.
