Invisible effects were the focus for Digital Domain on David Fincher's critically acclaimed "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." Led by Visual Effects Supervisor Eric Barba, Digital Domain addressed one of the movie's core action sequences – the spectacular car crash featuring a motorcycle-riding Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara). Our artists seamlessly replaced the helmeted stunt rider's head with a CG head created for Mara. Digital Domain also created a CG Range Rover for the sequence and crashed it in a fiery explosion. Extending sets, removing and creating buildups, turning scenes to autumn and adding snow and ice to make the Swedish winter even more frigid were all part of the 240 shots handled by Digital Domain teams in Venice and Florida.
