Digital Domain teamed with director Carl Erik Rinsch, DP Claudio Miranda and Team One to highlight the real-time traffic monitoring capabilities of the Lexus RX. During the live-action shoot, the Lexus RX was shot in downtown Los Angeles surrounded by 10 other vehicles. Digital Domain created traffic by adding 60 additional all-digital vehicles. The artists performed rig removal on three cars shot in-camera suspended by cranes, then added giant CG metal claws to lift the Lexus and dozens more CG cars. As silver cars are notorious for reflecting like mirrors when captured on camera, Digital Domain replaced the real RX with a digital version at the end, just before the vehicle arrives at shop, which is also constructed entirely in CG.
