Digital Domain Teams up with Global Cross-industry Players to Form 5G Network Slicing Association

(28 February 2018, Barcelona) - Digital Domain Holdings Limited (the “Company” or “Digital Domain”; stock code: 547), one of the largest and most innovative providers of visual effects and virtual reality (VR) experiences, teamed up with China Mobile, Deutsche Telekom, Fraunhofer FOKUS, Huawei, CEPRI of SGCC, Tencent, TIM and Volkswagen AG to announce the inauguration of the “5G Network Slicing Association” (the “Association”). The association will address requirements from multiple vertical industries, define new business model, study key technical issues, orchestrate E2E slicing standards development organizations (SDOs) and foster test beds and trials of 5G network slicing. As one of the founding members of this association, Digital Domain will collaborate closely with its partners to explore the mobile technology innovation in the 5G era and define valuable network slicing application scenarios for all industries.
5G networks, compared to previous generations, would provide users higher speeds, lower latencies, new levels of reliability and overall network performance and efficiency. 5G can be an important tool for productivity and an enabler for digital transformation in many vertical industries. 5G will generate new industries in an unprecedented scale and inject infinite vitality into the mobile communications industry. With the rapid growth in application types, such as augmented reality, virtual reality, autonomous driving, smart factory, 5G networks must become smarter, more flexible and more tailored to vertical customers’ requirements.

- Orchestrate E2E slicing SDOs and provide inputs to related standards
- Foster business-driven slicing test beds and trials
