THE SYNOPSIS
The Nissan Titan spot was directed by husband and wife duo The Chartrands, produced by Chiat|Day with visual effects created at Digital Domain. The two spots, appropriately titled 'Dayshift' and 'Nightshift' show the Titan in extreme environments which VFX supervisor Randall Smith, recreated the natural elements in post. Both of the 30-second spots have invisible visual effects throughout, due to the restrictions of the shoot locations being in National Parks. From the drought-stricken ground to the dust, forest fires, smoke, and snow, DD used off the shelf software such as Houdini, Nuke, Maya and Flame.
