Over the past 20 years, Michael has been a stalwart leader in the compositing department at Digital Domain, amassing over 50 feature film, episodic, and commercial credits to his name. In 2023, Michael won a Telly award for Best Visual Effects for his work on “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.” Previously, in 2020, he won a Telly award for Best Compositing on Tom Clancy’s “The Division 2.” He has also been nominated for two VES awards: Outstanding Compositing in a Photoreal Episode for “Black Sails” (2017) and Outstanding Compositing and Lighting in a Feature for “Black Widow” (2022).
As one of the top compositing supervisors at Digital Domain, Michael has overseen a diverse and talented group of compositors, always striving to further enhance Digital Domain’s reputation for composting excellence. Michael has supervised compositing teams on many feature films, including “Real Steel,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Terminator: Dark Fate,” “Black Widow,” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
Throughout his tenure as compositing supervisor, he has always maintained an eye toward detail and photorealism, constantly pushing his team to deliver the highest artistic quality. These experiences and attention to detail have facilitated Michael’s ascension to his role as Visual Effects Supervisor. This mindset was extremely valuable in bringing She-Hulk to life, as every aspect of her character was an exercise in extreme detail, creating nearly forty-five minutes of a feature-quality, photorealistic, walking, talking, computer-generated superhero. Michael’s expertise took She-Hulk beyond a mere computer-generated character and transformed her into a living, breathing incarnation of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.”
Michael has played a vital role in nurturing Digital Domain’s partnership with Lucasfilm. First, through his work on Season 3 of “The Mandalorian” as Compositing Supervisor and most recently as Visual Effects Supervisor on Season 1 of “Ahsoka,” where he and his team were entrusted to create a pivotal battle in the Red Forest. The team created a full CG environment to extend live-action footage on a blue screen stage to bring the sequence to life. More recently, Michael supervised his team, as the lead vendor on Marvel’s episodic, “Agatha All Along,” creating over 300 shots. He also contributed to “Captain America: Brave New World,” as Compositing Supervisor.
Michael is currently supervising a highly anticipated, upcoming DC and Warner Bros. film.
