Digital Domain was involved in the earliest stages of director Chris Columbus’ adventure of a teenage demi-god, designing the look of the creature ‘The Fury' during pre-production, then joining the project as the lead visual effects company with Kelly Port as visual effect supervisor. Digital Domain animated the Hydra — a five-headed, CG-fire-breathing, CG-slime-dripping beast that morphs into a 10-headed beast — and worked on sequences involving both of the mythical creatures. For some particularly gnarly CG water scenes, Digital Domain deployed its AMPAS Sci Tech award-winning FSIM fluid simulation system, and its considerable artistic strength, with impressive results.
